FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, traumatology and orthopaedics, rehabilitation and neurology. The functional shortening of a lower limb is assessed by measuring a step power of the walking patient's left and right lower limbs, and if observing asymmetry of the values up to 1% in relation to an average step power, the shortening is considered to be compensated. The asymmetry from 2% to 8% shows the sub-compensated shortening, while the asymmetry exceeding 9% provides stating the de-compensated shortening.
EFFECT: method enables providing the more accurate assessment of the functional shortening of the lower limb, selecting the corrective measures that enable avoiding the involved limb overload and discomfort, delaying the development of the degenerative processes of the joints, improving the manner of walking, preventing the instability of the endoprosthesis components following the endoprosthesis replacement of major joints of the lower limbs.
