FIELD: physics, computer engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a printed-circuit board support structure having a printed-circuit board connection device fixed therein. An illumination unit comprises a printed-circuit board support structure having therein a connection device recess; a printed-circuit board connection device fixed in said connection device recess, wherein said printed-circuit board connection device has a printed-circuit board connection structure electrically connected to an electric power supply connection structure; a printed-circuit board having a first side, a second side and printed-circuit board electrical leads; a plurality of separate LED assemblies connected to said first side of said printed-circuit board and electrically connected with at least some of said electrical leads of said printed-circuit board; a socket connection device immovably connected to said printed-circuit board and having a socket connection structure electrically connected to said plurality of separate LED assemblies through said electrical leads of said printed-circuit board; wherein said socket connection structure is detachably coupled with said printed-circuit board connection structure; and wherein at least a certain part of said second side of said printed-circuit board adjoins said printed-circuit board support structure when said socket connection structure is coupled with said printed-circuit board support structure.

EFFECT: reducing user need for handling wires when installing and/or removing a printed-circuit board.
