SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cryptographic message processing based on use of points on an elliptic curve and particularly to cryptography of deterministic nature. An electronic component performs a cryptographic calculation which includes a step of obtaining points P on an elliptic curve. A parameter (11) is determined and coordinates X and Y of a point P (13) are then obtained by applying a function (12) to said parameter. The function is a reversible and deterministic function. The point P is then used in a cryptographic application for ciphering or hashing or signature or authentication or identification.
EFFECT: high level of security and faster calculation during cryptographic processing owing to efficiently obtaining points on an elliptic curve and to that the calculation time does not depend on the encoded message.
