FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: method of providing compatibility for multiple radio stations comprises receiving statistical information on frequency use and statistical information on time use from a first radio station. The method creates a time and frequency mask by extrapolating statistical information on frequency and time use into future time and frequency when the first radio station will be active and uses the time and frequency mask to schedule a second radio station to avoid reception when the first radio station is probably active. An associated apparatus has an input device arranged together with the radio station for receiving information on use of time distribution, the input device is not arranged together with the radio station to receive information on frequency use and a time and frequency mask generator for creating a time and frequency mask using the information on use of time distribution and information on frequency use.

EFFECT: reduced interference between radio stations by predicting activity of radio stations arranged together and radio stations not arranged together in both the time and frequency domain.
