SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a system and a method of electronically transmitting and storing receipt data relating to an electronic funds transfer. In the system, sales receipt data and EFTPOS transaction data generated at a point of sale are electronically transmitted for storage to at least one remote location in which, after receiving a request from a customer or an authorised third party, the sales receipt data are identified using the data transmitted together with the EFTPOS transaction, thereby allowing the customer or authorised third party to electronically recover the original receipt containing sales receipt data and EFTPOS transaction data provided by the vendor during the transaction.
EFFECT: high reliability of EFTPOS transaction receipt data owing to joint transmission and storage of receipt data and EFTPOS transaction data and recovery of the original receipt containing receipt data and EFTPOS transaction data.
