FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: method provisions the measurement of the magnetic field induction above the pipeline centreline and the pipeline depth with a certain step selected in view of the pipeline depth, the location of the sources of magnetic field anomalies is determined. From the design or operational documentation the additional information on the location of circular welding joints is obtained, and by calculations the magnetic field induction generated by the pipeline elements, limited by circular welding joints, is determined. By the deviation of the values obtained after the measurement the magnetic field induction of the pipeline from the design values the defects are identified.
EFFECT: improvement of reliability of detection of defects of buried pipeline metal without excavation.
