SUBSTANCE: reinforced rubber composition contains: (a) a modified diene elastomer, (b) glycerol and (c) reinforcing filler containing an inorganic filler. The modified diene elastomer is selected from elastomers bearing a silanol group, wherein the silanol group is at end of the chain or in the middle of the chain or the modified diene elastomer is selected from elastomers which are functionalised at the end of the chain, coupled or star-shaped, obtained by functionalising diene elastomers with an agent of general formula (Y)m-R1Si(OR2)3-n-R3n, wherein: Y denotes the residue or R1 denotes an alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl residue containing 1 to 10 carbon atoms, R2 denotes an alkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl, alkaryl, aralkyl residue containing 1 to 12 carbon atoms, R3 denotes alkyl, aryl, alkaryl residue containing 1 to 12 carbon atoms, R4 denotes a hydrocarbon residue containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms and may contain one or more oxygen atoms in the hydrocarbon chain, n is equal to 0 or 1, m equals 1 or 2, p and q denote integers selected from 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4, under the condition that the sum p+q must be an integer between 2 and 5 inclusively.
EFFECT: obtaining tyre treads with low rolling resistance.
