SUBSTANCE: method comprises determining, for each video conferencing direction, quality of service parameters, such as channel transmission delay, delay jitter and packet loss rate in a communication channel, using RTP/RTCP protocols. An integral quality of service factor is determined based on the quality of service parameters. Based on the integral quality of service factor, an entropy function is used to calculate a vector of rate values for each video conferencing direction, the overall rate of which is equal to the effective bandwidth allocated for the session. According to the calculated transmission rate, a video format is established for each terminal, thereby adapting the video image format to the value of quality of service parameters in communication channels.

EFFECT: adapting video formats of multipoint video conference session terminals to the value of quality of service parameters characterising the communication channel state.
