FIELD: wireless communication.

SUBSTANCE: codec mode switching terminal comprises: a codec mode request receiving circuit which receives a codec mode request from a base station, including a codec mode, which is determined by the base station in accordance with the radio communication condition of the terminal; a mode switching notification circuit, which notifies the encoder of switching to codec mode included in the received request; a mode switching acknowledgment circuitry which transmits a response message to the base station upon acknowledgment that the encoder switches the codec mode; notification circuit of capabilities, which notifies the base station of capability information indicating that the terminal supports mode switching using the codec mode request from the base station.

EFFECT: technical result consists in possibility of switching codec or codec mode in accordance with radio communication condition UE.
