FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method includes pyrohydrolysis in gas phase of fluoroammonium salts of titanium in presence of water steam. Pyrohydrolysis is realised with reactor heating to 450-500°C at temperature of water steam from 700 to 1200°C, preferably 900-1000°C. As titanium salt applied is ammonium hexafluorotitanate. Water steam is obtained by burning hydrogen in oxygen in burner, with dosed introduction of additional quantity of water steam, obtained from its evaporation at boiling temperature, into their volume.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain titanium dioxide powder of rutile modification.
