FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication in environments using multiple and/or one radio access technology, particularly a device and a method of facilitating key management to support mobility between domains. The device for facilitating key management for handover between different domains comprises a processor, memory which includes a computer program code through which, in collaboration with the processor, the device performs at least the following operations: determining, in response to an attempt to perform handover between a first domain and a second domain, whether there is an indication of a potential key mismatch due to handover failure, wherein presence of an indication of a potential key mismatch is determined by inspecting whether a handover completion message acknowledgement is received, and/or by inspecting whether there is a level 1 synchronisation, and establishing, based on the result of said determination, the validity of the last set of keys used for encrypted communication between a mobile terminal and a network device.
EFFECT: enabling key management for the network side and the user equipment side, which enables to avoid key mismatch after handover failure.
