METHOD TO ASSESS FRIABILITY OF POWDERED SUBSTANCES AND DEVICE FOR ITS REALISATION Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC G01F13/00

Abstract RU 2541726 C2

FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanics of heterogeneous media and may be used in chemical industry, metallurgy, pharmacology, production of detergents, mineral fertilisers, construction materials, toxic and explosives, etc. The method to assess friability of powdered substances is based on serial dosing of several small portions of the tested substance of identical volume and subsequent detection of standard deviation of the portion of the dosed substance (relative "dispersion of substance sample"), which is a measure of substance friability, and they determine friability of the substance by calculations. The device for realisation of this method comprises two funnel-shaped hoppers with a hole in a base and a gate, which, when opened, results in free spillage of the tested substance from the hopper. The specified funnel-shaped hoppers are made in the form of through holes in a hopper plate, below which there is another thrust plate installed with a gap, with two through holes, axes of which are displaced relative to axes of hopper holes. The gate is made in the form of a central section plate with two rows of identical holes, to which a receiving plate is fixed at the bottom with receiving reservoirs fixed on it for the tested substance, the number of which is equal to the number of holes in the central section plate. This central section plate moves inside the gap between the hopper and the support plates with the help of an electric motor.

EFFECT: proposed group of inventions makes it possible to increase accuracy of friability assessment in dosing of small quantity of loose substances.
