FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical industry. Method of obtaining silicon β-carbide of stoichiometric composition in form of finished porous products includes heating workpiece of product from polymer composition to 800°C in protective against oxidation medium at rate 400-600°C/h under atmospheric pressure and exposure at 800°C for 1 h with further cooling. Polymer composition contains powder-like ohenol binder based on novolac phenolformaldehyde resin and hexamethylenetetramine, lubricant, represented by stearin or zinc stearate, and silicon dioxide carrier, represented by biosilica, with the following component ratio, wt %: biosilica 48-50, phenol binding agent 47-48, lubricant 3-5. Synthesis of silicon β-carbide is realised in products, subjected to thermal processing at 800°C, by heating to 1300-1500°C at rate 400-700°C/h under pressure in vacuum furnace 0.02-0.06 kPa with exposure at maximal temperature for 1-5 h.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce content of admixtures in polymer composition charge and carbide, as well as to increase output of finished product - silicon β-carbide of stoichiometric composition in form of porous products of specified configuration.
