FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a fuel cell generator which is specially designed as a standby unit for the loss of network power supply. The invention is additionally related to methods for the generator start-up and shutdown, a method to detect the overfill of the fuel cell and to a method to detect gas leakages in the generator. According to the invention the generator comprises a fuel cell battery, units to feed the battery with the first and the second reagent flows, which in their turn comprise the units to reduce pressure, and a commutator casing to communicate the said first and second reagent flows with the battery as well as at least one cooling liquid flow via the respective cooling circuit. The commutator casing on its inner side is fitted with chambers for mixing the reagent flows with the respective recalculating product flows, and by a chamber for the cooling liquid expansion inside which pressure reduction units for the first and the second reagent flows are mounted and are at least partially immersed into the cooling liquid.
EFFECT: higher efficiency and reliability of the generator.
