FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a separation device and a method of separation of one of a variety of rod-like elements (R), for example smoking rods stored in accumulator (50). The device is provided with the first unloading assembly (100) for unloading of individual rod-like element (R) out of the variety of rod-like elements (R) stored in accumulator (50), along the movement trajectory in direction (D) of unloading, which is directed at least approximately opposite supply direction to an unloading zone located in the upper part of accumulator (50) for storage. The method involves a stage of supply of a variety of at least horizontally aligned rod-like elements (R) in a downward direction and at least approximately vertical direction (F) of supply to accumulator (50). At the second stage, unloading of an individual rod-like element (R) is performed out of the variety of rod-like elements (R) stored in accumulator (50) along the movement trajectory in unloading direction (D), which is directed at least approximately opposite direction (F) of supply to the unloading zone in the area of the upper section of accumulator (50) for storage by means of the first unloading assembly (100).

EFFECT: invention provides safe and reliable separation of smoking rods.
