NOVEL SOLVENTS IN OBTAINING POLYURETHANE DISPERSIONS Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC C08G18/08 C08G18/12 C08G18/42 C08G18/75 C09D175/04

Abstract RU 2543894 C2

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to substituted N-(cyclo)alkylpyrrolidones as solvents for application in method of obtaining polyurethane dispersions. Water polyurethane dispersion is obtained by interaction of a) at least one polyatomic isocyanate with 4-30 carbon atoms, b) diols, of which b1) 10-100 mol % counted for the total quantity of diols (b) have molecular weight from 500 to 5000, and b2) 0-90 mol % counted for the total quantity of diols (b) have molecular weight from 60 to 500 g/mol, c) if necessary additional different from diols (b) polyatomic compounds with reactionable groups, which are alcohol hydroxyl groups or primary or secondary amino groups, and d) different from monomers (a), (b) and (c) monomers with at least one isocyanate group or at least one group reactionable with respect to isocyanate groups, which in addition carry at least one hydrophilic group or one potentially hydrophilic group, which results in ability of polyurethanes to disperse in water, in presence of at least one substituted N-(cyclo)alkylpyrrolidone in accordance with formula

with R1 being (cyclo)alkyl residue with 1-18 carbon atoms, and each of R2, R2′, R3, R3′, R4 and R4′ being hydrogen atom or (cyclo)alkyl residue with 1-18 carbon atoms on condition that at least one of groups R2, R2′, R3, R3′, R4 and R4′ is different from hydrogen atom, with obtained polyurethane being dispersed in water and after or in the course of dispersing if necessary polyamines are added.

EFFECT: polyurethane dispersion is used for covering and gluing wood, veneer, paper, cardboard, compacted cardboard, textile, leather, non-woven material, polymer surfaces, glass, ceramics, mineral building materials, metals or coated metals.
