FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical equipment, in particular to asynchronous or synchronous electrical machines (10) with a power range within several MVA, and is intended for detection of critical changes of air gap geometry. The electrical machine contains the rotor (19) designed with a possibility of rotation around an axis (18) with a package of rotor sheets (12) concentrically surrounded by a package of stator sheets (14) and is separated from it by a circular air gap (21). To ensure trouble-free operation (23) an air gap monitoring devices (21) passing in axial direction through the air gap are provisioned due to which the change of the rotor geometry and/or penetration of impurities into the air gap (21) are identified.
EFFECT: ensuring of trouble-free operation.
