FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automotive industry. EGR system diagnostics in diesel consists in determination of gas temperature and pressure in intake and discharge pipes to construct the model for determination of temperature decrease y=ΔT in EGR coolant by engine control unit. Note here that said model vector parameter θ and input vector x. Engine control unit is used to calibrate the model calibration for estimation of system shift h0 and calculation of the set of primary discrepancies ε (θ0, x, ΔT), starting from model formula and with application of calibration phase results. Calculation of the set of perfected discrepancies εN0) is executed by mathematical formula subject to the quantity of specimens subjected to diagnostics tests. Engine control unit is used to calculate the diagnostics index S by mathematical formula incorporating correlation matrix R0 calculated for sound system. Said diagnostics index S is used for evaluation of EGR coolant efficiency.

EFFECT: ruled out temperature gages in EGR coolant.
