SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method and a network component for caching content. The method comprises receiving, by a content oriented network architecture (CONA) node, a plurality of traffic engineering (TE) costs for a plurality of links; receiving, the CONA node, information on a plurality of content objects and corresponding probabilities that the content objects are received by the destination node of the content objects, wherein the CONA node is not the destination node; computing, by the CONA node, a caching policy in accordance with TE costs and information on content objects and corresponding probabilities; obtaining, by the CONA node, part of an object from a node in accordance with the computed caching policy and caching part of the object by the CONA node.
EFFECT: high network capacity due to content caching.
