FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to monitoring traffic in service provider network. System receives notification on the beginning of network data stream transmission, in response to request from user equipment to receive content from source server. Then system determines whether monitoring data stream coming from the source server on the user device is reasonable. If so, then system collects statistics on a data stream and saves this statistics in records on flows in the database. Besides, the system associates a stream record with a particular subscriber of the service provider network, by analysing statistics on data flow, and estimates the capacity with respect to that data stream provided by service provider network on the basis of statistics analysis results of said data stream.

EFFECT: effective monitoring of network for the collection of data on network streams as they flow in the network.
