SUBSTANCE: plug connector has a connector output with the first and the second main opposite sides and the third and the fourth opposite sides stretched between the first and the second main sides, as well as a variety of electric contacts transferred by the connector output. The variety of contacts includes the first set of external contacts, which is formed on the first main side, and the second set of external contacts, which is formed on the second main side. The first variety of contacts is symmetrically spaced with the second variety of the contacts, and the connector output has a shape with a 180-degree symmetry so that it can be inserted and functionally connected to the corresponding receptacle connector in any of the two insertion orientations. Fixation devices formed on the third and the fourth sides near a distal end of the connector project as grounding contacts.

EFFECT: creation of a plug connector with double orientation, which has reduced length and thickness and is suitable for general-purpose use as an audio connector and/or a data connector.
