FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: technique involves electroencephalography, ophthalmoscopic examination of the eye ground and laboratory analysis of blood plasma for measuring total homocystein, Quick's thrombin time and total cholesterol; that is followed by calculating a discriminant function by formula: D=5.09×OSE+2.57×EEG+0.128×tHcy+1.05×tC-0.11×P-8.32, wherein: OSE are the ophthalmoscopic findings of the eye ground vessels: 0 is norm, 1 is angiopathy of the retinal arteries, 2 is angiosclerosis of the retinal arteries, 3 is retinopathy of the retinal arteries; EEG are the electroencephalographic findings: 0 is norm, 1 is non-specific diffuse changes of the cerebral bioelectric activity, 2 is a decrease of a convulsive readiness threshold of the cerebral structures, 3 is central pathological changes of the cerebral bioelectric activity; tHcy is total homocystein, mcmole/l; tC is total cholesterol, mmole/l; P is Quick's thrombin time, % and if D>0, stage II discirculatory encephalopathy is diagnosed, and D<0 shows stage III discirculatory encephalopathy.

EFFECT: technique enables diagnosing the severity of discirculatory encephalopathy in the patients with homocysteinemia by analysing the most informative values.
