SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a wireless telephone set. In order to reduce consumption of current of the battery (BT) of a telephone handset (3), a base unit (2) instructs the radio communication section (21) of the base unit to switch to transmission power saving mode, wherein transmission power of the radio communication section (21) of the base unit is reduced to a level where no communication error occurs, according to information on a radio wave transmitted from the telephone handset (3), and indicates the level of the received radio signal from the radio communication section (21) of the base unit (2), received by the radio communication section (39) of the telephone handset (3).

EFFECT: reducing power consumption during power cuts in order to prolong call duration.
