SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering. A computer-implemented hardware-based human presence detection method, which comprises generating a random text string using a computing device control mechanism, where the control mechanism is located in a secure area on a computing device and the secure area is isolated from the primary operating system of the computing device; using the control mechanism to transmit the random text string to a sprite mechanism of the graphical mechanism of the secure area; using the sprite mechanism to record the random text string directly on a display device of the computing device outside the secure area for displaying the random text string; using the control mechanism to receive a response to the display of the random text string; using the control mechanism to decide that the computing device is being used by a person, if the response matches the random text string.

EFFECT: protecting a computer system from various actions which degrade the quality of service thereof.
