SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a spark gap (1) for overvoltage protection. The arrester has electrodes (3, 4, 20) facing to each other, having the devices (7, 16, 17) for compulsory providing of desirable path of current passing in electrodes (3, 4, 20) and which at least partially limit the current path. Meanwhile the electrodes (3, 4, 20) have electrode shoulders (10, 11, 22) which pass along the common side of the spark discharge of the electrode system (2).
EFFECT: improvement of efficiency of arc suppression due to shortening time of deionisation of the spark gap.
