FIELD: electrochemistry. SUBSTANCE: given for example is longitudinal section of heating chamber of resistance heater 1 having first pair of opposite insulated side walls on which three electrodes 2 of one polarity and three opposite electrodes 3 of the other polarity are mounted at definite intervals. Chamber design includes the second pair of opposite electric side walls 4a which hold at corresponding distance side walls 4 to form together the said heating chamber. The latter is of rectangular cross-section. The first and second electrodes are identical. The chamber volume is filled with liquid, e. g. with water, for closing channel to pass current between electrodes 2 and 3. Electrolyte comes with its mass beyond the lateral edges of electrodes to fill spaces 5. Device has screen members 6 and 7. Screen members 6 overlap the edges of electrodes 2 and 3 for distance t in the order of 30% of space between electrodes 2 and 3. Screen comes to the other side beyond the electrodes through distance in the first approximation equal to space between them. Arranged in the intervals between successive pairs of electrodes are screen members 7 which overlap each of two adjacent electrodes for distance. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 6 cl, 6 dwg
