FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: in the proposed device and method of sinter production they use heat of the radiation of the upper sinter surface. The device comprises a section attached to the furnace body with cassettes having heat-accumulating screens made in the form of shaped pipes filled with a heat insulator and fixed by transverse rods. The cassettes are made as movable relative to the section body with the possibility of horizontal reciprocal movement by means of a drive, which is made in the form of pneumatic cylinders or a λ-shaped mechanism by Chebyshev. Periodical heating of the cassettes is carried out in an ignition furnace by means of introduction of the cassettes into the furnace from the side of the sinter entry. After the cassettes are taken out of the ignition furnace, they are cooled by the transfer of heat to the upper surface of the sinter.
EFFECT: increased strength of the sinter in an upper part of a cake.
