FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method includes immersing into a contaminated liquid one end of a capillary porous element, at the other end of which, by passing electric current, an evaporation area is formed, with transfer thereof into the contaminated liquid owing to capillary properties of the porous material. Contaminants are compacted in the capillary porous element by heating the liquid to boiling in the evaporation area. The vapour is condensed to obtain the purified liquid. The method is carried out using an apparatus having a container for contaminated liquid (1), into which the lower part of the capillary porous element (5) is immersed, the upper part of which is placed between electrodes (6) while providing contact. The container for contaminated liquid is sealed by upper (3) and lower (2) covers and is equipped with inlet and outlet pipes in the lower and upper covers, respectively. The inlet and outlet pipes are connected to a pipe for feeding contaminated liquid (4) and a steam pipe (7), respectively.

EFFECT: high efficiency of purifying liquids from radionuclides with minimal power consumption on the most energy consuming operations.
