SUBSTANCE: invention refers to machine building and can be used for strapping of reinforcement bars. A wire coil is mounted in the chamber of the casing of a reinforcement bar strapping machine in a removable way. The coil comprises a cylindrical section of a bush on which wire is wound, and a pair of parallel flanges passing outwards from both outer bush ends. The side wall inside the bush is provided with light transmitting sections letting in the light from a transmitting photosensor installed in the casing of the reinforcement bar strapping machine. A variety of zones for information determination made with at least one light transmitting section are located between the pair of parallel flanges in the side wall. The number of the said sections provided in different information determination zones is different.
