OSTEOPLASTIC METHOD FOR CLOSING DEFECTS OF THORACIC RIBS (VERSIONS) Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC A61B17/56

Abstract RU 2551617 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: super- and subjacent ribs are dissected in a frontal plane without stripping the periosteum and separating from a donor rib. A split rib fragment is turned about 180° on the periosteum covering it with cracking the cortical plate of the donor rib into a lumen of a rib defect so that the periosteum faces the pleural cavity. Ends of the turned split rib fragments are sutured to an edge of ends of the pre-resected rib and additionally fixed by a metal structure. Version: a bed is pre-created in the sternum by chiselling a fragment of the external cortical plate of the sternum body opposite the rib defect and turned from the defect. The super- and subjacent ribs are dissected in the frontal plane together with the sternocostal joint without stripping the periosteum and separating from the donor rib. The split rib fragment with the sternocostal joint and the fragment of the external cortical plate of the sternum is turned en bloc about 180° onto the lumen of the donor rib with cracking the cortical plate of the donor rib, and laid into the sternum bed to cover the defect so that the periosteum faces the pleural cavity. Ends of the turned split rib fragments are sutured to the edge of the end of the pre-resected rib and additionally fixed to the sternum from the other side or sutured together; the turned external plate of the sternum is placed back to cover the turned split rib fragments and additionally fixed by the metal structure.

EFFECT: group of inventions enables closing significant defects, restoring the thoracic shape and functions.
