METHOD OF FUNNEL CHEST DEFORMITY TREATMENT Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, orthopedics, particularly, surgical correction of funnel chest deformity. SUBSTANCE: method includes mobilization of deformed chest by segmentary resection of ribs over external edge of deformity, parasternal chondrotomy and T-shaped sternotomy with obligatory chondrotomy of costal arches. Bending of physiological profile of anterior thoracic wall is imparted by means of plates, for instance, from titanium ones of 0.1 cm thick, 0.5-0.7 cm wide and with length equalling the width of anterior thoracic wall. Plates are connected with one another into single unit and laid on skeletonized anterior surface of sternocostal complex brought into position of correction.
