FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method includes scanning surrounding space in the azimuth plane, selecting a video frame with an object the distance to which is to be measured, measuring the vertical and horizontal coordinates of the image of the object relative to the coordinate of the beginning of the video frame, setting the axis of sight of a laser range-finder based on the calculated coordinates of the object, and the range to the object is measured in the next scanning cycle at the beginning of formation of the video frame with the selected object. The method is carried out by mounting an electro-optical module and a laser range-finder on a scanning platform equipped with a drive and an angular position sensor, and placing two optical wedges in front of the laser range-finder, each equipped with a drive and an angular position sensor.
EFFECT: enabling measurement of range to an object with a laser range-finder with continuous high-speed scanning of the surrounding space, including circular scanning.
