FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: device for scanning and stabilising an optical image has a biaxial scanning platform fitted with a lens, an optical prism on a gimbal suspension with drives and angle sensors and a photodetector matrix and is meant for obtaining quality video frames both when tracking mobile objects and during circular scanning of the surrounding space at a constant angular speed. Stabilisation of the optical image of objects during tracking and fixation of the optical image of the surrounding space on the photodetector matrix during scanning and stabilisation are provided by the optical prism which is mounted on a gimbal suspension in front of the photodetector matrix. The angular speed of the prism and the angular speed of the platform during scanning are linked by the relationship: ω=f·n·Ω/d·(n-1), where ω is the angular speed of the prism; f is the focal distance of the lens; n is the refraction index of the material of the prism; Ω is the angular speed of scanning; d is the thickness of the prism in mm.
