FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to versions of a method of producing low-molecular weight olefins by converting a feed stream containing carbon monoxide and hydrogen, using an iron-based supported catalyst, the method including providing a catalytic composition containing iron-containing particles dispersed on a substrate which contains α-aluminium oxide (α-Al2O3), wherein said substrate contains at least 1 wt % (with respect to the weight of the substrate) iron-containing particles, and the bulk of the iron-containing particles is in direct contact with α-aluminium oxide. The invention also relates to a method of producing said composition and use of the catalyst obtained using said method.
EFFECT: invention increases selectivity to formation of low-molecular weight olefins and reduces selectivity to formation of undesirable methane.
