SUBSTANCE: specific values are determined for each of 16th, 26th, 11th, 31st, 36th, 46th teeth and adjoining gingival areas. The presence and health of the teeth (nzi) are stated. Gingival bleeding (kri) is stated with analysing a reaction to a bulbous-end or specially blunt probe end pressed under pressureless conditions to a gingival space wall and slowly passed from a medial to distal side of each examined tooth from buccal and lingual sides. The presence of dental plaque (zni) is stated. The presence of supragingival dental calculus (nki) is stated by a dental probe with its end movable from cutting edge towards the gum. The presence of subgingival dental calculus (pki) is stated by means of the dental probe with its end movable from the cutting edge towards the gum. The gingival inflammation processes adjoining the teeth (νpi) are stated. All the specific values determined are scored. The derived values are used to calculate a criteria index ("FAP"). If "FAP" is less than 10, the oral hygiene is considered to be excellent. The "FAP" ranging from 10 to 30 shows the good oral hygiene. If the "FAP" falls from 30 to 50, the oral hygiene is supposed to be satisfactory. If the "FAP" appears to be more than 50, the poor oral hygiene is stated.

EFFECT: method enables increasing the assessment accuracy of the oral hygiene by conducting the multivariate analysis and calculation of the optimum values.
