METHOD OF ASSESSMENT OF THE INFLAMMATORY PROCESS IN PERIODONTAL TISSUES Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61C3/00

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, in particular to dentistry, and is intended for use in the clinical diagnosis of periodontal diseases. Object of the invention is to increase the level of objectivity in evaluating the inflammatory process in periodontal tissue. Proposed method takes into account the data of self-examination of the patient and the results of a clinical examination of a dentist and calculates the objective periodontal index (OPI), the size of which assesses the health of the surrounding periodontal. With an OPI of 0 scores, the periodontal condition is assessed as healthy; from 0.1 to 2 scores inclusive – inflammation of periodontal tissue of mild severity; from 2.1 to 4 scores inclusive – inflammation of periodontal tissue of moderate severity; from 4.1 to 6 scores inclusive – inflammation of the periodontal tissue of severe severity.

EFFECT: method allows to shorten the period of diagnostics of periodontal diseases, raise the patient's awareness of the state of their own health and reduce the labor effort of the doctor.
