SUBSTANCE: disclosed tourbillon includes: a rotary carriage (6) connected to a second gear (46), a balance (12) mounted on the rotary carriage (6) relative to the shaft (28) of the balance and also having an escapement wheel (16) mounted on the rotary carriage (6), and operably connected to the balance (12) through a lever, characterised by that the rotary carriage (16) is fitted with a braking element (30) which can be engaged with the balance (12) and is capable of axial displacement relative to the shaft (28) of the balance.
