FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: arthroscopy is performed through an anterior medium port of the ankle joint. An arthroscopic probe is inserted through an internal anterior port into the joint cavity and used to reduce and retain a fragment until guide pins are inserted. Microincisions 2 mm or less spaced 1 cm in the proximal direction from the both ports are made to insert guide pins in parallel with the arthroscope and the arthroscopic probe in the anterior-posterior direction to fix the fragments temporarily. The pins are brought out transcutaneously onto a posterior surface of the shin. The ankle joint is X-ray imaged with the fragments put together and fixed with biodegradable cannulated screws inserted along the guide pins in the anterior-posterior direction. The guide pins are removed.
EFFECT: method enables providing the more reliable fixation, avoiding the recurrent surgical operation otherwise needed to remove the devices inserted before.
