FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: method includes reception of the emitter signal, measurement of bearings and their dispersion at bearing stations with known location, results transmission to the central station, where bearings from the bearing stations are calculated to places of possible source location, and function of spatial uncertainty as per bearing is determined. Additionally at the bearing stations field intensity of the emitter and interferences field is measured. Measurement results considering the design values are converted in function of the spatial uncertainty as per field intensity, and total function of uncertainty is determined. According to its minimum the presence of the surface wave is identified, emitter position and emission power are determined.

EFFECT: determination of emission power, increased authenticity of identification with reduced probability of false alarm, and extended work zone.
