FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to produce reinforcement material, as well as a polymer composition containing magnesium hydroxide. The method of producing magnesium hydroxide includes steps of: adding an alkali to a mixed aqueous solution of a water-soluble magnesium salt and a monobasic organic acid or an alkali metal salt and/or an ammonium salt and coprecipitation, adding an aqueous alkali solution to an aqueous solution of a water-soluble magnesium salt and coprecipitation thereof and adding a monobasic organic acid or alkali metal salt and/or ammonium salt to the obtained product; hydrothermal treatment of the obtained suspension at temperature of 100-250°C.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain magnesium hydroxide and a polymer composition containing magnesium hydroxide with a high crystal size ratio.
