SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement of electrical and magnetic quantities and measurement of properties of an electromagnetic field, and can be used to investigate stray electromagnetic radiation when determining information security of equipment, information support facilities while solving information security tasks as a result of stray electromagnetic radiation and stray pickup. The method comprises receiving signals with an antenna system; selecting the maximum magnitude of the component of the real part of a two-dimensional angular spectrum, from which the electromagnetic field strength is determined, said field being generated as a result of the operation of equipment when processing information, and recording frequency values and determining the electromagnetic field strength EK of the radiation; performing further measurement of the strength of the electric E and magnetic H fields of the stray electromagnetic radiation, the levels of the harmonic components of the stray electromagnetic radiation spectrum, using measurement antennae in horizontal and vertical polarisation in a wide frequency range, and measuring the magnetic component of the stray electromagnetic radiation; determining the maxima and minima of the values of the electric E and magnetic H fields through search thereof by rotating the investigated equipment by 360 degrees in different directions.

EFFECT: enabling measurement of the strength of the electric E and magnetic H components of stray electromagnetic radiation during investigation thereof with determination of the frequency F and E levels thereof in a wide frequency range from 9 kHz to 12 GHz in horizontal and vertical polarisation of the measurement antennae, the frequency F and H levels thereof in the frequency range from 9 kHz to 30 MHz, wherein the maximum and minimum values of the electric E and magnetic H components of the stray electromagnetic radiation are determined.
