FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention is referred to vacuum circuit breakers and may be used in high-voltage vacuum arc-quenching chambers. A contact system for a vacuum arc-quenching chamber comprises a movable and a fixed unit placed coaxially, each of them consisting of a current lead made as a rod and a contact part with a flat contacting surface joined to it. In the centre of the flat contacting surface of the movable contact unit there is a depression and in the centre of the flat contacting surface of the fixed contact unit there is a cylindrical contact fixed over the protruded surface; the cylindrical contact is made of a compacted mixture of powders with high and low specific conductivity so that powder concentration decreases continuously from the its fixed end up to the free one. The depression and the cylindrical contact placed coaxially have dimensions providing their electrical connection.
EFFECT: preventing arcing at opening of the contact units and preventing their erosion damage as a consequence, improving the life resource and reliability of the contact system structure for the vacuum arc-quenching chamber.
