FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: when decomposing brucite with 34-38% nitric acid at temperature not higher than 80°C, followed by separation of the non-decomposed residue from magnesium nitrate solution, the decomposition process is carried out in the presence of fluoride- or(and) silicofluoride ions, and separation of the non-decomposed residue is carried out by filtering. The fluoride- or(and) silicofluoride ions, the source of which is sodium fluoride or calcium fluoride or fluorine-containing products from nitric acid treatment of an apatite concentrate, are taken in amount of not less than 0.1% with respect to fluorine from the mass of brucite.
EFFECT: high efficiency of filtering magnesium nitrate suspensions.
