SUBSTANCE: reaping device for a self-propelled harvesting machine comprises a platform for mounting the cutting unit, which has a bottom sheet. The platform can be moved using the adjusting device relative to the tray of the reaping device in the direction of harvest or in the opposite direction to adjust various positions of the cutting unit relating to the tray of the reaping device. When adjusting the position of the platform of the reaping device relative to the tray of the reaping device in the direction of the harvest, the intermediate space can be created between it and the bottom sheet, closed with the transition sheet made with the ability of longitudinal movement relative to the tray of the reaping device. The transition sheet rests on one side on the bottom sheet and on the other side on the tray of the reaping device through at least one tracking device that is separate from the adjusting device.

EFFECT: due to the overlap with the transition sheet of the intermediate space between the platform of the reaping device and the bottom sheet, the harvested crop losses are eliminated.
