FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of removing contaminants from soil includes preparing pulp by mixing soil with water at the soil collection point with separation of a fraction with fragment size greater than 100 mm in a pulp preparation module, disintegrating the pulp and soil aggregates in a disintegration module with separation of plant residues and a fraction with fragment size greater than 10 mm. The pulp is thickened. Pulp in a hydraulic classification module is separated into a sand fraction and a fine fraction, and the fine fraction is fed into a dehydration module which is in the form of a concentrator, where it undergoes thickening and dehydration, followed by disposal thereof. Any mercury or amalgam contained in the soil is separated in a thickening module.
EFFECT: low-waste reagentless technique of removing mercury, water-insoluble forms thereof, amalgams and/or radionuclides from soil in a single process without reconfiguration of equipment, separating metallic mercury or amalgams thereof.
