METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETECTING FAULTY RECTIFIER IN AC-TO-DC CONVERTER Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC H02H7/125

Abstract RU 2562968 C1

FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention is referred to device (1) for detecting faulty rectifier in AC-to-DC converter having its alternating-current side connected to three-phase AC source (90) and its direct-current source connected to DC load (50). AC-to-DC converter includes rectifier circuit (30) comprised of at least three branches (31, 31', 31"), each branch (31, 31', 31") connected to the respective alternating-current phase (40), and at least one rectifier (32, 34, 32', 34', 32", 34"). Device (1) includes measuring unit (20) for measurement and selection of alternating current for each phase and computing unit (10) made to evaluate instantaneous direct current value based on measures instantaneous alternating current within one frequency period of the power supply source. Computing unit (10) is designed for additional computation of percent ripple for the evaluated instantaneous current and determination whether the calculated percent ripple exceeds threshold value, initiation of alarm signal respectively, computation of the rectifier status value based on maximum instantaneous alternating phase current within the same period and determination for each branch availability or unavailability of fault in conductivity based on the computed rectifier status value.

EFFECT: possible determination of faulty diode.
