FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the paper industry, in the production of paint materials, rubber, plastic, construction materials, ink, food, fodder, cosmetics and in water treatment. To obtain precipitated calcium carbonate, a reactor containing an aqueous phase is kept at initial temperature. A carbon dioxide-forming compound is fed into the aqueous phase until pH of the aqueous phase reaches a value in the range of about 5 to about 7. Calcium hydroxide suspension is then added at initial temperature while continuing to feed the carbon dioxide-forming compound to obtain a suspension of precipitated calcium carbonate. The rate of adding the precipitated calcium carbonate suspension into the reactor is set such that the average electrical conductivity of the content of the reaction mixture during the reaction is in the range of 100 to 6000 mcS/cm. The initial temperature of the aqueous phase ranges from about 0 to about 95°C. The initial temperature of the calcium hydroxide suspension ranges from about 10 to about 90°C.
EFFECT: invention increases the content of calcium carbonate in the suspension, enables to obtain precipitated calcium carbonate with different crystal habits without using seeding agents.
