FIELD: power engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a technology of separate extraction of gas mixture components, in particular, purification of uranium hexafluoride from highly volatile impurities. The method to cool a gas mixture includes preliminary treatment of compressed atmospheric air, preliminary cooldown of compressed atmospheric air, cooling of compressed atmospheric air in an expansion turbine to the specified temperature, removal of work spent for expansion, cold efficiency regulation. Preliminary treatment of compressed atmospheric air is carried out on zeolyte providing for treatment to dew point of 203K. Preliminary cooldown of compressed atmospheric air is carried out in a recuperative heat exchanger. Removal of work spent for expansion is carried out by heating of intermediate working medium on a braking device. Cold efficiency regulation is provided by variation of expansion turbine rotations number.

EFFECT: use of the invention makes it possible to ensure the necessary extent of uranium hexafluoride treatment from highly volatile impurities, considerably simplifies process and structural design of a cooling circuit, provides for the necessary interval of temperatures even at most thermally modes of operation.
