FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: device for protection against free turbine overspeed of gas turbine engine, containing gas generator, with at least one compressor, combustion chamber, at least one fixed-type turbine and system regulating fuel injection to the said combustion chamber, at that gases leaving the said gas generator enter the said free turbine, at that said device contains at least one device for torque measurements, it is installed on the output shaft mechanically connected with said free turbine, and signal processing unit, made with possibility of command supply for fuel supply decreasing to the said regulation system of the gas turbine engine in case of torque decreasing below the set value, where the torque measurement used to include the said decreasing, if performed during rotation, corresponding to part of turn of the said output shaft.

EFFECT: increased response relating decreasing of fuel supply to the gas generator during detection of shaft damage of the free turbine.
