SUBSTANCE: invention relates to lighting engineering. A lighting device consists of a light source, an accumulator, a charging device connected to the accumulator, a generator operating on solar energy and a control unit to control the light flux. The method involves accumulator charge during solar energy generation; acquisition of local data of natural lighting, multiple acquisition at pre-determined time intervals of local data on weather forecast, which cover the pre-determined time period, and determination of a model of output lighting for the pre-determine time period; control of the lighting device according to the model of output lighting. The above identification of the model of output lighting involves forecast of a need for lighting for the pre-determined time period based on primary data on ambient light; with that, primary data on ambient light includes local data of natural lighting; forecast of the accumulator capacity for the pre-determined time period based on the current level of energy accumulation and secondary data on ambient light; with that, secondary data on ambient light includes data on weather forecast and local data on natural lighting; and determination of the model of output lighting based on lighting need and accumulator capacity, from the point of view of preservation of energy accumulation level above the pre-determined minimum level, during the pre-determined period of time.

EFFECT: improved control accuracy of a lighting instrument.
